2. Arnold Schwarzenegger Called The Terminator "Some S**t Movie"

It's easy for us to observe the enormous impact and influence of James Cameron's sci-fi masterpiece The Terminator in retrospect, yet back when the movie was being made, few beyond writer-director James Cameron had all that much faith in the modest $6.4 million production.

More vocally than anyone, star Arnold Schwarzenegger expected little from the movie except a paycheck, as he explained to his bodybuilder pal Rick Wayne on the set of Conan the Destroyer, shortly before he went off to shoot The Terminator. In Wayne's own words:

"As we sat there talking he picked up the Conan sword, which weighed a ton, and went through the moves he'd practiced... Then he grabbed a pair of shoes and I said: 'What are those for?' He said: 'Oh, some s**t movie I'm doing, take a couple of weeks.' It was The Terminator. That was the movie that made Arnold. For him it was just some crap film."

It's hilarious to consider how little Arnold thought of the movie on the eve of shooting, compared to its enormous critical and commercial success, which effectively launched the careers of both himself and Cameron, and built a franchise which remains Arnie's most recognisable almost 40 years later.
