10 Movies That Would Actually Benefit From A Remake

7. Fantastic Voyage (1966)

Richard Fleischer's classic sci-fi is a movie that surprisingly hasn't been remade yet, although it isn't for lack of trying. Although the special effects and Cold War allusions have become terribly dated, which of course you would expect 48 years on, the central concept remains strong; a scientist that developed a miniaturization process lays in a coma, causing a team to use his technology in an attempt to save his life. Despite some questionable logic regarding the miniaturization, the movie remains one of the decade's greatest adventure movies. The set design and effects are brilliant for the time period, and resulted in Academy Award wins for both Art Design and Special Effects. A remake has been talked about for decades now, with James Cameron initially writing a script that was rejected by potential director Roland Emmerich, before Paul Greengrass was mooted in 2010 with Cameron still attached as producer. Recently, Shawn Levy has been circling the project although there has been no news in recent months. A remake of Fantastic Voyage has the potential to be both intelligent and entertaining, and an updated version utilizing cutting-edge effects would be perfect for 3D. With James Cameron's continued involvement it would be safe to say that the addition of the third dimension would be nothing short of stunning. Of course, seeing as the original movie was a product of its time the political angle would need to be dropped and the team of scientists updated for the modern day seeing as the only woman on-board was an 'assistant'. In the mold of the recent $600m grossing 'Journey' franchise, a remade Fantastic Voyage has the potential to be a 3D adventure movie for all ages to enjoy.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
