10 Movies Based On Books That Should've NEVER Been Made
2. Eragon
Eragon is the first book in Christopher Paolini's four story franchise The Inheritance Cycle, set in a fantasy land that focuses on a boy and his dragon as they overcome the evil king. The novels were released from 2003-2011 and the first and only film in the franchise came out in 2006.
It was ranked 13 in the top 20 highest grossing fantasy films within the US whilst receiving bad reviews from the fans of the original books and the cinema audiences who were subject to seeing it. The film received 16 percent on Rotten Tomatoes however the special effects were deemed one of the best parts, with flying creatures and sword fights across lands even with a relatively small budget.
Avril Lavigne also created the original theme song for the movie Keep Holding On which drew some popularity towards the feature itself.
Again, because of the backlash, the production for any future films was ceased before filming even began for the second. Plot points and character relationship changes made it even harder for the production company to begin with a finalised new concept.
Fans are still awaiting for a new adaptation to be released.
