10 Movies You Can't Stop Watching When They Come On TV

9. Back To The Future

Back To The Future's enduring success comes from the way it expertly straddles various genres to the point it becomes a stand-out of each. It's a sci-fi flick, a teenage drama and buddy comedy all wrapped up in one entertaining package. Something this fun and varied means there's no real lull where you'd be tempted to change the channel. It's the sort of film that begs for re-watches, with countless little winks to the effects of time-travel littered throughout the story; pretty much every line of dialogue in the opening twenty minutes ends up being the set-up to a joke or plot point in the latter half. But to praise that as the reason you get so enraptured in the film misses the fact that the real joy is in the charms of Marty Mc Fly. The addictive watchability the movies decreases through the trilogy, with Part II's complexity and Part III's western setting making them a lot harder to dip into. Point of no return: Once you get to the night of the dance and impending storm, it's impossible to not stick about until the end.
