10 Movies Changes Influenced By The Fans' Feedback

3. Bringing The Horror - The New Mutants

When movie historians reflect back on early 21st century cinema, The New Mutants will no doubt top the list for most troubled productions. The film is one of the most unluckiest in history, with an abundance of issues unrelated to the product itself causing no end of problems. From faltering returns from other entries in the X-men franchise, scheduling issues or a pesky global pandemic, the producers for this flick seriously can't take a trick.

What makes it all the more frustrating for those involved was that the trailers were actually well received. The horror aspects of this 2018 produced, but yet to be released film, was an interesting change up for the X-Men franchise, which was starting to get the staggers after the poor reception for Apocalypse.

In fact it was the audience excitement at the New Mutants trailer and dislike of the Apocalypse movie that caused the filmmakers to make some changes. Re-shoots for the new film were made that eliminated any references to the 80's or the wider X-Men universe, while also amping up the horror aspects that were received so well in the trailer.

Of course just how effective these changes prove to be is still up in the air. The likelihood of the film not making it to the cinemas at all increases with each day of the Corona pandemic, but here's hoping it will be worth the wait whichever platform we watch it on.
