10 Movies That Should Have Cult Followings By Now

4. The Weather Man

Year Of Release: 2005 Rotten Tomatoes Score: 58% The Weather Man bombed back in €™05 mainly because audiences were fooled into thinking the film was a romantic comedy when there are in fact little to no romantic elements. The film is actually a comedic character study that avoids the Hollywood feel good formula and is a hilarious satire of American values. The rom com marketing campaign likely scared away the people that would enjoy the film, while attracting the date night audience. Nicolas Cage gives one of the best performances of his career as Dave Spritz, a TV weatherman with no degree in meteorology who feels unchallenged and fraudulent. Cage is perfectly cast and carries a good amount of the film on his shoulders while Michael Cain does an excellent job portraying an unimpressed father. The Weather Man has the entire makeup of a cult favorite, however it€™s still being regarded as another subpar Nicolas Cage movie, when it€™s entirely the opposite.
