10 Movies We're Embarrassed To Admit Got Us All Choked Up

1. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith

No one is embarrassed to admit that they felt a little teary after watching the original trilogy, so it wouldn't make sense to include those movies on this list. What is a littler harder to bring up as being a tear-jerker would have to be the best of the prequels, which obviously isn't saying much at all. Let's be honest: we only watched this movie for one or two scenes, the most important being the inevitable confrontation between Anakin Skywalker - now Darth Vader - and his long-time mentor, Obi Wan Kenobi. For some of us anticipating this fight, we had lofty expectations that this lightsaber duel would redeem the troubled movie franchise. I wouldn't say it redeemed the entire prequel trilogy, but it absolutely made Revenge of the Sith worth sitting through (also: Wookies). What made the final battle even more epic and heart-wrenching was the concurrent battle happening in Coruscant between Yoda and Emperor Palpatine, which suitably relied on the Duel of the Fates score to emphasise the epic confrontation. Were we tearing up because we were finally watching a Star Wars scene worthy of being included into Lucas's canon? Probably not, as I suspect that most of us were just surprised to see Ewan McGregor (Kenobi) giving it his all alongside the robot that is Hayden Christensen. Like this article?
