10 Movies Everyone Remembers For ONE Awesome Scene

7. Into The Vault - Mission: Impossible

Taken Liam Neeson
Paramount Pictures

Now, Brian De Palma's original Mission: Impossible is far from a bad movie, but it's also one that grows more pale and distant with the release of each new outrageous entry into the franchise.

Compared to every other Mission: Impossible film that has followed, the original is so tame, even lethargic, that almost 25 years later there's really only one iconic, statuesque scene which most fans actually remember.

We're of course talking about Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) infiltration of the CIA HQ, which sees him hanging perilously from a wire as he hacks a CIA computer, with the room primed to measure minute differences in weight and pressure.

Even if this stomach-knotting sequence might seem quaint by the series' contemporary standards, the sight of Tom Cruise hanging mere inches from the floor nevertheless remains the series' signature image - and for damn good reason.

The rest of the movie is a pretty hazy memory though, honestly.
