6. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
It really should not be difficult to bring this beloved series to the screen in a convincing manner, and though the 1980s "guy in suits" films were undeniably fun, they have also aged extremely badly, and are really just goofy shells of what we enjoyed from them as kids. The CGI reboot a few years ago was palatable but not really taken seriously by most people; Splinter looked too cute, and a clear effort was made to make the Turtles suitable for the very youngest children, giving it the feel of a studio animated film rather than a CGI adaptation of a classic series. That was five years ago, and though Michael Bay's company Platinum Dunes - yes, the folk responsible for remaking all of those horror films - have picked up the rights for
another reboot, we haven't heard much in a while. What we had heard was troubling, that the Turtles are going to be re-introduced as space aliens, so we're sort of glad that Bay's attempt isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Get a director who actually respects the source material, though whether the turtles would be CGI or not would be an important question; if a top-tier studio like ILM or Weta can get roped in, CGI could work, as suits will likely be laughed off the screen in this day and age.
