US Box Office: $30,353,973

More engaging than Underworld: Awakening but still lacking the fire that director Len Wiseman brought to the first two instalments, Blood Wars follows Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fights vampires and werewolves and deals with betrayals most viewers will see coming from miles away.

The movie certainly looks the business, it’s paced well enough to hold your attention and the filmmakers have gone all-out to find a way to ensure that this entry stands out from its predecessors. Near the end of the picture (MASSIVE PLOT SPOILER AHEAD) Kate Beckinsale’s hair colour changes slightly, upping the ante for all future sequels.

Then again, that’s assuming Sony will be willing to roll the dice on future instalments. To give you some idea what a comparative flop Blood Wars was, it made less than half of what Awakening and Evolution took at the US box office.
