10 Movies From The 2000s That Made More Money Than You Thought

2. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

This pirate franchise has lessened as of late, making it hard to remember there was a time when we were excited to see these films. The franchise peaked with Dead Man's Chest, the best film in the franchise.

It built off The Curse of the Black Pearl, developed the characters in a compelling adventure, and piled it high with a triple-helping of creativity. This gem got forgotten after the excessively bloated At World's End and forgettable On Stranger Tides, but the $582,000,000 domestic gross says it all.

This was bigger than the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King's whopping $555,000,000 adjusted number. The pirate franchise had it all, but the later installments effectively stalled this theme park ride gone wild.
