10 Movies From The 90s That Should Be Remade

3. Speed

So, we don't want to touch Heat. And we'll leave The Rock alone. Is Speed alright to remake? In theory, there's a lot of ways you could screw it up, but it's also important to remember that it has one of the most basic plots ever. IMdB states the film is about "A young cop that must prevent a bomb exploding aboard a city bus by keeping its speed above 50 mph." While people might roll their eyes at the idea of it being remade, it certainly isn't the kind of movie that is so highly revered and respected for its cinematic greatness that boycotts would spring up all over the web. If Premium Rush can turn out to be pretty good, why not give this one another shot? I see it being a bit of a success under James Mangold's (3:10 to Yuma, Walk the Line) direction, with Joel Kinnaman, Rashida Jones, and Ian McShane all joining in, too.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
