4. The Cabin in the Woods
The Pitch: Another group of friends are pulled headlong into a battle for humanity when they find themselves gingerly trying to outstep horror movie cliches.
Likelihood: Admittedly, this one's just a strange consideration, given that the first movie ends with the so-called Ancient Ones punching an almighty fist through the Earth, presuming killing everyone on it. It doesn't exactly leave much room for a sequel, even though writer Joss Whedon has refused to single it out, and while it didn't blow up the box office, it doubled its budget, and has become something of a cult smash. Still, the only way it would really work is in a parallel universe of some kind, using the brand to tell a totally different story...aside from the fact that it's once again a cabin...in the woods (unless the title were changed to reflect a different horror cliche). I won't be counting on it, but I'll be crossing my fingers for something as audacious and original from Whedon and director Grew Goddard.
3/10.
