10 Movies That Gave Rise To Bizarrely Specific Fears

7. Spiders, Spiders Everywhere - Arachnophobia

Arachnophobia is one of the most common fears there is. How many people are totally, 100% ok with spiders, and not just putting on a tough act for their significant other? Nothing with eight legs can be trusted, with the possible exception of octopi. Being scared of spiders? Totally normal. Being terrified that spiders are about to start pouring out of every orifice of your home? That's a result of the movie Arachnophobia. The film is enough to make any average person develop a pathological fear of spiders. It revolves around a super-deadly breed of spider from the Amazon that hitches a ride in a coffin to small town America, and gets its love on with a house spider, creating hundreds of small, venomous spiders that masquerade as harmless but pretty much kill people instantly. The climax of the film occurs when the hero of our story realizes that the spider's lair is at his house, but when he shows up to rescue his family, the little buggers strike. We're talking millions of spiders climbing out of the sink, the shower, the toilet, the electrical outlets. EVERYWHERE. This is why you need to act preemptively, and as soon as you see one spider in your house, you burn that mother to the ground.
