10 Movies In 2017 That Killed The Wrong Character

The Death: One of the most tragic moments in Danny Boyle's long-awaited sequel is the reveal that, in the 20 years that Mark Renton's (Ewan McGregor) been away from Edinburgh, his mother has passed away.

Who Should've Died Instead: Though Mrs. Renton's (Eileen Nicholas) death does lead to this absolutely gorgeous, haunting visual of her shadow residing on the wall - in a callback to a similar shot from the first movie - it's pretty baffling that the only remotely significant character death in the entire movie is...a heroin addict's mum.

Though T2 certainly puts it central quartet through the wringer, the fact that they all survive, and that none of them died during the interceding two decades, is honestly too ridiculous to believe.

While Renton or Spud (Ewen Bremner) dying would've been too devastating for words, Begbie's (Robert Carlyle) death would most certainly have been justified given his near-murderous rampage at the end of the film.

It also would've heightened the tragedy of his familial interactions throughout the film, but instead he was delivered back to the cops in the trunk of a car in fairly cartoonish - and much less satisfying - fashion.
