10 Movies Missing From Warner Bros.' DCEU Slate (And Why)

5. Supergirl

Deathstroke Justice League
DC Comics

With Superman's future in the DC Extended Universe as uncertain as ever, it was revealed in 2018 that Warner Bros. had instead decided to start developing a Supergirl movie. Oren Uziel was hired to pen the screenplay, but comic book fans were left fuming over the news that this hero was a bigger priority for the studio than the Man of Steel.

That backlash could have factored into the apparent decision to put the brakes on this spinoff, because we've heard nothing noteworthy since the announcement. However, as this is yet another project which hails from those "let's see what sticks" days, don't be surprised if it never got much further than what we heard in that initial report.

Supergirl is also a popular TV series on The CW, and it's unlikely that would be allowed to continue if this film were to happen. That may have also led to Warner Bros. slowing things down, and while it's definitely possible that the Girl of Steel will eventually swoop on to the big screen, she's obviously not going to be part of the current DCEU slate.
