10 Movies Missing From Warner Bros.' DCEU Slate (And Why)

6. Harley Quinn Vs. The Joker

Deathstroke Justice League
Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. was massively confident in the DC Extended Universe's chances of success back in 2017 as Harley Quinn vs. The Joker was another movie announced that year. Margot Robbie and Jared Leto were confirmed to star in the project, while Glenn Ficarra and John Requa came on board to co-write and co-direct.

Plot details were kept under wraps, but it seems like the plan was to focus on their breakup, with the plan presumably to then continue delving into that in Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey.

With Robbie keen to pull the spotlight away from Harley's relationship with the Clown Prince of Crime and Leto unhappy with how he was treated in Suicide Squad (not to mention Warner Bros.' decision to make a Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix), the odds were stacked against this one from the start.

With two unwilling main stars and a push for female-led superhero movies, Warner Bros. took a chance on Birds of Prey, and given the events of that film - and its box office performance - it's now easy enough to see why Harley Quinn vs. The Joker is M.I.A.
