10 Movies Missing From Warner Bros.' DCEU Slate (And Why)
4. Green Lantern Corps
Following the successful launch of Disney+, Time Warner (the owners of Warner Bros.) is hoping that their HBO Max streaming service will be every bit as popular. To ensure that, they're relying on some big franchises, and making good use of DC Comics properties.
That includes a big budget Green Lantern TV series which is being spearheaded by Greg Berlanti, and while we know it will be set in space, the show's leads haven't been revealed.
However, this definitely leaves the fate of the long-delayed Green Lantern Corps movie up in the air, and while there have been claims that Geoff Johns remains hard at work on the screenplay for that, we've heard nothing concrete enough to be confident it's still happening. That's disappointing, but easy to understand from Warner Bros.' perspective.
2011's Green Lantern movie was massive flop, and testing the popularity of the franchise by launching a TV show makes much more sense that delivering another movie that could struggle to make an impact at the box office. Plus, the two projects sound way too similar!
