10 Movies That Were About Nothing More Than Dirty Old Perverts

8. Damage (1992)

Jeremy Irons must quite like to play slimy perverts given his role as Humbert Humbert in the disappointing 1997 remake of Lolita and also his role in Damage - as an MP who is boffing his son's girlfriend who is much younger than him. Irons' character Stephen is obsessed with Anna - his son Martyn's girlfriend. They indulge in all sorts of naughty behaviour behind Martyn's back, some people notice their uneasy manner with each other and guess what is going on - such as Anna's mother. Stephen and Anna grow less and less discrete about their sexual peccadilloes and this ultimately leads to tragedy and a hubristic downfall for Stephen. Directed by French Great - Louis Malle, he does a terrific job of showing the audience the perils of not only extra marital affairs but specifically extra marital affairs with a close relative's partner. Anna engages in sex with Stephen, but I don't believe she loves him - otherwise she would not have engineered the film's terrible climax. Stephen is caught in the grip of an erotic obsession about Anna which results in lots of Dirty Old Pervert shagging Juliette Binoche (who plays Anna) action in quite graphic terms. Anna is definitely a troubled and complex character (she watched her brother dying as a child) - I get stoney cold emotional vibes from her plus we can't totally blame Ol' Perv Stephen - Anna is a home wrecker and she wreaks absolute havoc toying with this family. Miranda Richardson is wonderful as the bereft mother and betrayed wife.
