7. Singin' In The Rain
You know the songs - in fact, you can probably even sing them - so who cares that you just happened to never see the movie? In this well-loved musical starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds we are introduced to the world of silent pictures and movie stars clashing with the new age of progress as talkies take over Hollywood. Popular film star Don Lockwood turns to the beautiful new actress Kathy Selden to do voiceovers for Dons squeaky voiced co-star Lina Lamont. The plan backfires when, at the premiere of the new movie, Kathy is singing backstage for Lina and Don raises the stage curtain to reveal the true star of the evening. The AFI named Singin in the Rain as #5 in the list of the top 100 movies over 100 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu4v5hB1dKk So, even if you havent seen the 1952 film, just hum along to the catchy tunes like Good Morning! and the title classic itself and youll appear to be a musical aficionado.
