10 Movies You Most Regret Not Seeing At The Cinema
4. Life Of Pi (2012)
Compared to Avatar on its initial release, Life of Pi is an absolute feast for the senses. Few were surprised when the film picked up the Oscars for Best Director and Best Visual Effects. Ang Lee's film pushes the boundaries of what is possible in terms of big screen visuals, serving up an instantly iconic character in the shape of tiger Richard Parker. Parker, who is a true triumph of turning tech into realism, was created using a mixture of real tigers and visual effects techniques. The chemistry between the mammoth creature and Suraj Sharma, who plays the title character, is the centrepiece of the film. Parker is such an impressive creation that only the cinema can do justice to his majesty. Even the trailer for Life of Pi deserved to be seen on the biggest possible screen, showcasing some of the film's most memorable set pieces. It was one of the best teasers of recent years, turning a film based on a notoriously difficult novel into a must-see cinematic event.
