10 Movies Roger Ebert Loved That Everyone Else Hated

5. 2012 (3.5 stars)

2012Ebert Quote: "This is fun. 2012 delivers what it promises, and since no sentient being will buy a ticket expecting anything else, it will be, for its audiences, one of the most satisfactory films of the year." Critical Consensus: 39% One thing Roger Ebert was fantastic at is reviewing a film on its own terms; if it's aimed at teens, then if it suits that audience perfectly, it can easily achieve three or even four stars, and the same logic seems to be applied here. Like most all Roland Emmerich films, 2012 was marked out for its excellent set-pieces, but widely criticised for its limp characterisation and terrible script. Ebert still felt the need to be exceedingly generous and not even settle for a believable if forgiving 3 stars - he almost went the whole hog, giving it a whopping 3.5 stars. The only thing 2012 delivers in my eyes is a headache.
