10 Movies Ruined By Glaring Factual Inaccuracies

7. Armageddon: There Can Be No Fire Without Oxygen

Minority Report Headline
Buena Vista Pictures

Michael Bay loves fire and explosions, and he doesn't let the laws of thermodynamics dictate when he can and can't use them.

Case in point, Armageddon. When Ben Affleck's A.J. Frost crashes on the asteroid that spells doom for mankind, he exits his spacecraft to examine the wreckage.

It's strewn everywhere and some of it is ablaze. These are low-key conflagrations by Bay's standards, but they shouldn't be there at all.

Fire requires oxygen, something the asteroid shouldn't have since there's no atmosphere on its surface, hence why A.J. is wearing a space suit in the this scene to prevent his eyes from bulging out, Total Recall-style.
