10 Movies Ruined By Glaring Factual Inaccuracies

8. Red Dragon: Mrs. Doubtfire Wasn't Out Until 1993

What do Hannibal Lecter and Mrs. Doubtfire have in common?

Weirdly enough, they're both in Silence of the Lambs prequel Red Dragon, with a VHS copy of the Robin Williams comedy appearing in the Leeds family's video collection.

Okay, so that doesn't seem very peculiar. Mrs Doubtfire was a popular movie, so why wouldn't a fictitious family with kids own a copy of it?

Well, since you ask, they couldn't have owned a copy of it. Although the exact year Red Dragon takes place in is unclear, it's definitely set before Silence of the Lambs' 1991, and Mrs Doubtfire didn't come out until 1993.

Either the Leeds family were time travellers who make routine trips to the future to pad out their video collection, or director Brett Ratner cocked up here.
