10 Movies Ruined In Their Final Shot

Ah, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a movie many have likely been revisiting recently in order to prepare for Spider-Man: No Way Home. And boy, doesn't that final shot still sting like hell?

To be fair, it's a real mess of a movie - not terrible, but certainly a sloppy, uneven, overlong collision of competing subplots while again succumbing to the "too many villains" problem that plagued Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3.

Still, the film's epilogue appears to be wrapping up with a neat final showdown between Spidey (Andrew Garfield) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti), which had been hyped up both in the movie's marketing and their brief encounter near the start of the film.

But alas, just as the battle kicks off, Spidey swings towards the camera and... we cut to black. The End.

Given that this closing shot was literally included in the movie's trailer, it felt like an insanely cheap cop-out to end things here, as if to tell the audience they'll need to wait for the third film - which didn't happen, of course - to see the outcome.

Beyond this, it was really the last straw for a lot of fans who were already incredibly indifferent or on the fence about the movie.

On its own merits it's a cool-looking shot, but as emblematic of the weird disdain that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 seems to have for its own audience, it was a deeply unsatisfying, mouldy cherry on top.
