10 Movies Ruined In Their Final Shot

Look, the third Harry Potter is for the most part a really good movie, with director Alfonso Cuaron daringly shifting the franchise into a darker and more interesting space.

But what the hell was that final shot all about?

The unforgettable final scene sees Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) taking his new Firebolt broom for a ride, where he flies close to the screen in euphoric joy as Cuaron bafflingly freeze-frames the image before fading to black.

It looked silly enough in 2003, but almost 20 years later in our snarkier present? It's terrible. Much as you might think it hyperbolic to say that this ruins the entire film, it does completely upend the tone that Cuaron so meticulously crafted throughout.

Sure, it's meant to be a much-needed moment of levity for Harry and the audience, but the corny-ass freeze-frame lurches into genuinely embarrassing territory, and totally undercuts what is otherwise a beautifully directed movie. Oof.
