10 Movies Saved By Their Final Shot

9. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Leave The World Behind
Paramount

The fifth Star Trek movie is largely agreed to be the worst - though some might throw Insurrection, Nemesis, and Into Darkness into the mix too - largely due to its clearly constrained budget and ambitious failure of a narrative.

There are a couple of high points, though, most of all the very last scene, where after saving the day Kirk (William Shatner), Spock (Leonard Nimoy), and Bones (DeForest Kelley) resume the camping trip in Yosemite which they began at the start of the movie.

In the ending scene, we've got the Enterprise's Big Three sat around a campfire and singing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" while Spock plucks away on a Vulcan harp.

It's gloriously cosy stuff, and the beautiful departing shot - of the camera tilting away from the trio in the forest, panning past the glistening lake and up to the star-filled sky, just as the Star Trek theme starts playing, is a much-needed reminder of why folks love this franchise in the first place.

Hell, it's gorgeous enough to almost make you forget about the two hours of nonsense preceding it, and maybe even bring a damn tear to the eye.
