10 Movies Saved By Their Final Shot

8. Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday

Opinion varies wildly among Friday the 13th fans over which film is the very worst, but the ninth movie, Jason Goes To Hell, is certainly an oft-cited candidate.

In a bold-yet-misguided attempt to do something different with the franchise on its way out the door, the "final" Friday the 13th largely shoves Jason Voorhees to the sidelines, opting instead to have him possess folk after - wait for it - a mortician eats his heart. Yup.

It's a dreadfully miscalculated film with only a fleeting appearance from Actual Jason (Kane Hodder) at the very end, shortly before he's finally dragged to Hell.

But the final minute of the movie at least manages to fleetingly perk up long-suffering fans with a tease of a much-anticipated future attraction.

After Jason is dragged to Hell, a dog unearths his mask, moments before Freddy Krueger's (Robert Englund) gloved hand bursts out of the ground and pulls the mask downward, all while Freddy's demented cackle is heard.

Teasing a Freddy vs. Jason movie was just enough to wash some of this film's rancid taste out of fans' mouths, even if they ultimately had to wait an entire decade to see Freddy vs. Jason finally come to fruition.
