10 Movies Scenes That You Probably Fast-Forwarded As A Kid

8. The Deems Taylor Scenes - Fantasia

Walt Disney's Fantasia is a strange, curious oddity of a movie, really - an animated film unlike any other, and one that has become even more fascinating and bizarrely mesmerising over the years. So the idea was to animate themed "segments" to pieces of classical musical, the most famous of which has Disney icon Mickey Mouse pegged as The Sorcerer's Apprentice. There's also a ballet scenes with hippos and stuff. It's kind of weird. Between the segments, though, Fantasia makes use of a "program announcer," real life composer Deems Taylor, who opens the film with an extended sequence where he talks about the movie, and pops up at later intervals to discuss what's to come. Even for an adult, these scenes are fairly boring, though. You can hardly blame Disney for including something to break up the segments, but skipping these parts presumably became habit for kids everywhere.
