http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xbBLJ1WGwQ Another off-kilter instance of invoking the credit, there's no denying that Michael Mann's Heat is, in its original form, a fantastic crime thriller and among the very best that the genre has to offer. However, when American TV networks and airlines show films, they tend to cut the most pervasive and adult elements - i.e. the best bits - in the interest of not offending anyone. The result can often mean that the final film doesn't really resemble a whole lot of the director's original vision, and Mann, clearly protective over how his material is viewed, ensures to sever the connection between himself and the neutered version of his film.
