10 Movies Starring Supernatural Actors

One of the better outings in Hollywood’s slew of horror-movie remakes, Friday The 13th feels very much like an 80s slasher movie updated for the modern generation. All of the key ingredients are there; big scary killer, buckets of blood, gratuitous nudity and a group of teens unlikeable enough that you don’t feel sad when they meet their ends at the hands of the hockey-mask wearing killer.

Jared Padalecki plays Clay Miller, a motorcycle riding bad boy looking for his missing sister and the central protagonist of the film. He isn’t too different from Sam Winchester here, so if you’ve ever wondered how half of the Winchester brothers would fare against Jason Voorhees this is a must-see. Our boy gives as good as he gets, discovering Jason’s lair and fighting him in a barn. As always though, the ending isn’t that simple.

The movie doesn’t add anything new to the long-running horror franchise and is pretty much a by-the-numbers soft reboot of the story. If you aren’t already a Friday The 13th fan, this isn’t the film that will get you into the franchise, though that might not matter if you’re a huge Jared fangirl. The film turned a very good profit (the second highest-grossing in the franchise behind 2003’s Freddy Vs Jason) but unfortunately legal issues over the character rights have so far prevented any further sequels being made.
