10 Movies Stuck In Development Hell

1. Metal Gear Solid

Not only is one of the most popular sagas right now, but also it has a loyal fanbase that keeps growing with every new game. So a movie based around this incredible masterpiece sounds like a great idea; if it's held by the right people, this might become the next Star Wars, maybe even bigger if we consider how long and how many years and characters are involved in it. So, what happened? In 2006, Hideo Kojima stated that a movie about the game was in development, but that's the only news we had. Sadly, screenwriter and voice of snake for years, David Hater, won't be involved in the film despite the numerous petitions by fans to have him involved in one way or the other (either writing or directing). However, we didn't get any news about the project. It's a very complicated one because Kojima says (and with good reason) that the story would have to be very different since a movie and a videogame are very different. We didn't get any news on the project, but there were lots of speculations around it. Last year, we finally got something. Konami announced that a movie about the game would be made and it is currently in pre-production. The producer would be Avi Arad and it would be made by Columbia Pictures, with Sony distributing the film. Now, I know what you're thinking "Is this something good? Or should I start screaming and blaming god?" Well, it is too early to judge. After all, the movie is still in pre-production. Avi Arad has made some good films in the past, such as the first two X-Men movies, Iron Man, The Amazing Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk, and Sam Raimi's Spiderman. However he was also the producer of Electra, Spider-Man 3, Bratz: The Movie and both Ghost Rider movies, but I personally think that this movie will follow the same fate as other Avi Arad videogame movies. It will be stuck in development Hell for a really long time, and we probably won't see Snake on the big screen any time soon. However, there is an independent movie called Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy that is set after the events of Sons of Liberty. The film was well received by fans and even Kojima himself said the film was great. So, if you want it, you can check this project. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
