2. Rendezvous with Rama

Arthur C. Clarke's great novel about an alien vessel that enters our Solar System is recognised by many as one of the greatest stories ever written. It had great characters, a deep storyline that allowed the characters to grow, and it explored some themes that very few have dared to touch. One of the world's greatest novel's, it captured the attention of Morgan Freeman, who bought the rights to the novel and hired none other than David Fincher to direct the film.
So, what happened? This is something that I hope more producers would make, and it is not rushing a film just because you want to make it. You have to take time and find the right people, the right script, the right moment to release it, everything. In 2003 funding was secured, and the movie was going to be produced by Freeman's company Revelations Entretainiment. However, the reason why the film wasn't made is because he hasn't found a satisfying script. You have to admire Freeman's enthusiasm with the film, and how much he has the necessity of doing it right. He has been working on the project for over 15 years, and he recently said to Neil deGrasse Tyson that the film will be made, but he just needs to find the right script. Let's hope he finds the right script soon, because we may have in front of us the greatest sci-fi movie ever made.
