6. Hellboy 3

Guillermo Del Toro's adaptation of Dark Horse comic became one of the best movies of 2004. It quickly gathered a loyal fanbase that demanded more of our beloved Red Guy. So in 2008 he returned with The Golden Army, a movie that was not only bigger than its predecessor, but also more ambitious. The storyline was more complex, since it didn't have a typical villain that wanted to destroy the world just because he felt like it, the new characters were memorable, and the climatic battle at the end of the film was remarkable. The great thing about this film is that you felt they were going somewhere, that it was all part of a big plan, and some of the decisions made by the characters will affect them in the final installment of the movie. It was a great thing, everybody was anxious to see the final chapter in the story, and Guillermo was more than happy to do a final installment in the series.
So, What Happened? Despite being critically acclaimed, the movies didn't perform well at the box office. "The two movies made it back and a little bit" said Guillermo del Toro in a recent interview. And according to him the third movie would require a really big budget if he wants to tell the story the way he wants it, and no studio is willing to take a risk like that one. And so, the project never came to be, and the world might never know what might have been of Hellboy after the events in The Golden Army. Despite all that, Del Toro still wants to do the movie, but it seems very unlikely. Del Toro said, "It would take the mother of all kickstarters," and if we consider that some of them can barely make 2 million, it seems that the movie might never see the light of day.
