10 Movies Teased In Other Movies YEARS Earlier
8. Every Ice Age Film Contains A Line Of Dialogue Foreshadowing The Sequel's Plot
As a rule this list generally doesn't include sequel teases because, let's be honest, a movie begging for its own sequel is in no way surprising.
But the Ice Age franchise is an interesting exception, then, because an enterprising fan recently discovered that each film doesn't just suggest a sequel is on the way, but covertly teases the specific plot through a seemingly benign, disposable line of dialogue.
In the first Ice Age, Sid (John Leguizamo) mentions global warming, which is the central threat in Ice Age: The Meltdown.
In the second film, Manny (Ray Romano) says that the dinosaurs went extinct because they "got cocky" and "made enemies," only for Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs to reveal that a civilisation of dinosaurs has survived beneath the ice.
The third film sees Manny's pregnant wife Ellie (Queen Latifah) tell him, "I can't wait to see how you handle the teen years," and Ice Age: Continental Drift is all about Manny being a stereotypical overprotective father to his teenage daughter Peaches (Keke Palmer).
And finally, in the fourth film Diego (Denis Leary) incorrectly tells Sid that his family was wiped out by an asteroid, only for Ice Age: Collision Course to be centered around preventing an asteroid colliding with Earth.
This pattern is too pervasive to be a mere coincidence, and impressively sneaky for an otherwise sledgehammer-subtle, larger-than-life animated series.
