10 Movies That Are Just Giant Adverts

8. Cast Away (FedEx)

Cast Away Proof that not all advert movies are awful, Cast Away is largely excellent film that depicts Tom Hanks as a FedEx employee who ends up stranded on a remote island after his plane crashes in the South Pacific. His efforts to survive revolve largely around the cargo he finds strewn around the island, and great though the film is, it's still a massive advert for the postal giant. FedEx did not pay for the product placement, though they clearly did endorse the effort spiritually if not materially, given that the company's CEO appears in the film. Though the placement is ubiquitous at times, it is at least realistic; if a FedEx plane crashes, the packages are all going to be FedEX - what else could we possibly expect? Still, that doesn't stop it being distracting to a point, and it paid off for FedEx, as the success of the film saw their brand awareness increase in Asia and Europe.
