10 Movies That Are Just Giant Adverts

4. The Wizard (Nintendo)

The Wizard One of the most blatant and down-right patronising product placements in movie history occurs in the 1989 Fred Savage-starring film The Wizard, which was sold almost entirely on providing the world with its first glimpse of Nintendo's widely anticipated video game, Super Mario Bros. 3. Though the game itself went on to become one of the best-selling video games of all time, this film quickly reaped its cheap box office dollars and then faded into obscurity as something of a cult curio. The premise revolves around a deranged young man who runs away from home to compete in the Nintendo World Championships. While this staid non-plot unfolds horribly, Nintendo products are shoe-horned into the film to keep kids' attention spans up while waiting for the Mario reveal, namely the Nintendo Power Glove, complete with the unforgettable line, "I love the Power Glove. It's so bad."
