10 Movies That Blatantly Troll The Audience

3. The Devil Inside

Paramount Pictures

There are plenty of bad horror movies that disappoint audiences by promising more than they actually deliver. However, then there is 2012€™s The Devil Inside, a found footage movie about exorcisms that fails to deliver on everything it promises. For example, the most promoted image in the marketing was a possessed-looking nun with creepy eyes (as seen above), but the nun appears in only seconds of the actual movie and has nothing to do with the narrative at all.

However, the worst example of baiting and not delivering is with how the movie ends. The Devil Inside climaxes with a horrific car crash that seems to be caused by supernatural causes... and then just ends. A title card then tells the audience to go to a website for information. The problem is that only about a year after the film came out the website (www.therossifiles.com) was taken down.

So not only does the movie not have an ending, but the website that had the ending doesn't even exist anymore. The ending also isn't included on the DVD. Oh, you expected that you would see a complete movie? Sorry, not happening. After a surprisingly strong opening weekend at the U.S. box office, The Devil Inside's box office dropped over 75 percent the following weekend. No doubt word got around to those thinking of seeing the film that it barely even qualified as a film at all.
