10 Movies That Changed Hugely From The Trailers
3. Justice League
The fact that there are literally dozens of articles online detailing all the trailer footage missing from Justice League's final cut is proof perfect of just how aggressively the superhero tentpole was fiddled with in post-production.
Between huge chunks of the film being re-shot after Joss Whedon came aboard to take over from Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. top brass mandating that the film run no longer than two hours, major sequences featured in trailers were either significantly altered or erased altogether.
After Whedon took over the reins, the film's colour palette was given a significant re-grading, with Snyder's penchant for drab, dark greys and blacks switched out for a brighter red hue, especially during the film's CGI-slathered third act.
The missing scenes featured in the trailer, meanwhile, are almost countless: The Flash (Ezra Miller) encountering Iris West (Kiersey Clemons), Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) observing a hologram of Superman (Henry Cavill), Superman meeting up with Alfred (Jeremy Irons), a bunch of action beats involving Cyborg (Ray Fisher) including him donning a full robotic face-mask, and more scenes set in Atlantis.
Even if you never watched a single trailer for the movie, it's painfully obvious that it was hacked to shreds in post-production, as the character development and plot both feel bewilderingly rushed.
As much hand-wringing as there has been about Justice League's dubiously existent "Snyder Cut", one suspects his version was at least a more interesting, less-sanitised movie than what fans finally ended up with.
