10 Movies That Changed Your Mind About Actors You Hated

9. The Aviator - Leonardo DiCaprio

If you're too young to remember, scour the depths of the internet and you'll find that - at around the Titantic mark in Leonardo DiCaprio's career - he was considered to be something of a "talentless pretty boy." Not that that made sense or even remotely close to the truth , but the general population seemed intent to pin this actor as a Hollywood star who was getting by on his looks alone (despite the fact that he had already proven he was more than a pretty face in 1993's What's Eating Gilbert Grape? - when he was just a kid). Nowadays, Leonardo DiCaprio is one of Hollywood's most acclaimed and sought after actors, but it took Martin Scorsese and Gangs of New York, The Aviator, and The Departed to inject DiCaprio's career with that dose of oomph that it sorely needed in the wake of, uh, Don's Plum. In the The Aviator, especially, Leo proved himself to be an incredibly accomplished actor, and - after he was nominated for an Oscar for his turn as Howard Hughes - people decided that, oh yes, Leonardo DiCaprio's awesome. And now he's, like, everybody's favourite actor. Go figure.
