10 Movies That Completely Switched Genre Halfway Through

9. Hot Fuzz

From Dusk Till Dawn Quentin Tarantino George Clooney Salma Hayek
Rogue Pictures

From a box office perspective, Hot Fuzz was by far the most successful of the Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy, earning more in theaters than Shaun of the Dead and The World's End put together, and a lot of that has to do with the third act venture into Michael Bay territory making the movie a lot more accessible to international audiences.

The first half of the movie is every bit the charming and irreverent British comedy that we'd come to expect from Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, but it still came as a surprise when the action movie references directly led to a pivot towards the kind of high-octane action and shootouts that you'd usually expect to see in a Hollywood production with ten times the budget.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
