4. Night School

Malcolm D. Lee's Girls Trip was the breakout comedy hit of 2017, garnering strong reviews and earning almost $140m at the box office. The director's latest feature is looking to recapture that magic, this time with the very popular Kevin Hart in the lead.

As the title would suggest, the movie focuses on a group of disparate adults forced to attend night school in order to complete the exam necessary to officially finish high school. Not the most original of ideas and plenty of the jokes write themselves, but Night School is still likely to show strong legs at the box office.

Along with Girls Trip, Lee's Barbershop: The Next Cut and The Best Man Holiday also performed well at the domestic box office, while Hart has steadily been increasing his reputation as a certifiable draw.

Seven of the actor's movies in the last five years have all earned at least $90m in the States, and a late September release makes it the only straight-up comedy in the market throughout the whole of October, almost guaranteeing a strong performance.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
