8. The Kid Who Would Be King
We’ll know the fate of this film sooner than most as it’s slated for release late January. The Kid Who Would Be King, is the story of King Arthur transposed into a British secondary school.
Writer/director Joe Cornish made his name with Attack The Block, another action comedy that juxtaposed Hollywood genre sensibilities with the unlikely milieu of working class Britain to hilarious effect.
After collaborating with Edgar Wright on screenplays for Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin, and the first Ant-Man movie, Cornish returns to the directors chair with a more kid friendly offering than his debut, and judging from the trailer this could be a classic family adventure movie.
Filling what appears to be a gap in the market for live action kids movies these days, the film is also notable for starring Andy Serkis’s son Louis in the title role
