10 Movies That Gave Away The Spoiler Immediately
8. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)
The Mission: Impossible films are known for their revealing opening credits sequences, in which certain action scenes and character moments are typically montaged over the credits. But few are more revealing than the series' fourth entry, Ghost Protocol.
Animation director Brad Bird's first foray into live action entertainment, Ghost Protocol is the instalment that transitioned Mission: Impossible from spy thriller to Tom Cruise stunt vehicle, and many would say we're all the better for it. But the film's opening goes a little too large straight out of the gate. Accompanied by the iconic score and fizzing fuse graphics, the opening credits show all pivotal plot points, including launching of a nuclear warhead and who the villain is; they spoil all of the stunts and gadgets; and they end on a shot of the final parking garage fight scene.
Granted, all of the Mission: Impossible films indulge in this plot-baiting behaviour, but in contrast, the likes of Brian De Palma's 1996 original show a variety of action sequences out of order, piquing the viewer's interest while keeping them in the dark about how these elements fit together -- much in the way a well-edited trailer does.
