10 Movies That Gave Away The Spoiler Immediately
6. Shaun Of The Dead (2004)
There are few people in the United Kingdom or abroad who are not familiar with not only the plot but a litany of quotes and one-liners from director Edgar Wright's first major release, Shaun Of The Dead. But this wasn't always the case.
Once upon a time, viewers traipsed into cinemas and were treated to a jump-cutting zom-com unlike any other, in which Simon Pegg's Shaun and Nick Frost's Ed became cinematic legends while fighting the undead in the suburbs of London. But for those with their heads screwed on straight, Wright drops a piece of whip-smart dialogue early on that serves as a comprehensive, blow by blow spoiler for the whole film.
When attempting to cheer Shaun up after an unceremonious dumping, Ed lays out a gameplan for the following day's drinking: 'We’ll have a Bloody Mary first thing, have a bite at the King’s Head, couple at the Little Princess, stagger back here. Bang! Back at the bar for shots.'
When the zombie apocalypse is underway, every word comes true; they have to mess up an infected woman named Mary in their back garden, Shaun’s stepfather Philip (Bill Nighy) gets bitten in the neck, they stop off at Shaun's ex's flat to pick up her and her two flatmates, they literally stagger back to the pub to blend in with the zombies, and Shaun finally uses the rifle from the wall to shoot zombies from behind the bar.
How's that for a slice of fried gold?
