The early, Zack Snyder-driven years of the DC Extended Universe made the same mistake as many others that have tried to follow in the footsteps of Marvel Studios in attempting to sprint to the finish line before learning to walk.

Man of Steel acted as a solid reboot for Superman, but from there the world-building expanded at a rapidly-accelerated rate. Things quickly snowballed into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which tried to act as a Man of Steel sequel, Batman reboot, Justice League teaser and advert for the wider DCEU all at once, and failed miserably to maintain what was an already delicate balancing act.

After Snyder's departure, Joss Whedon stepped in to finish Justice League under heavy studio interference, and the end result wasn't particularly well-regarded by either fans or critics. One of the biggest casualties was Ray Fisher's Cyborg, who was originally set to be a key member of the team, but found his role in the superhero team-up reduced to little more than an extended cameo.

The character was also set to be the star of his own solo movie, which would have hit theaters this weekend if Warner Bros. had stuck to their original plans for the franchise, but now it seems incredibly unlikely that we're ever going to see Cyborg on the big screen again.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
