10 Movies That Made Actors QUIT Forever
1. Sean Connery - The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
Sir Sean Connery's relationship with 2003's fantasy-action The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has become the stuff of legend in recent years.
During production, the Oscar winner said that the whole film was "off the rails" and that director Stephen Norrington needed to be "locked up for insanity." Before League made its way to theatres, Connery had suffered several box office flops, including First Knight (1995) and The Avengers (1998), and the eventual critical and commercial failure of the film acted like the final nail in the coffin for his career.
He reportedly tried to "save" the film during the editing process, only to realise it was not possible to salvage and that it was causing him far too much stress. After the film came out, Connery announced his retirement.
There were reports that he'd be appearing the planned fourth Indiana Jones flick, rumours he denied by saying: "Retirement is just too much damned fun."
Sean Connery may have ended his career on a bad note, but it's nice to see he's enjoying himself all the same.
