10 Movies That Made You Most Question Your Own Reality

3. Paprika (2006)

Paprika Satoshi Kon's second entry on this list was also the final feature film he directed before his death in 2010. Paprika explores similar themes to Perfect Blue, but messes with our conception of reality even further, pushing the very limits of surrealism in animation. The story follows a research psychologist who has developed a new device that allows the user to enter a patients dreams to diagnose psychological issues. Unfortunately, some of these devices have gone missing and may have fallen into the wrong hands. Doctor Chiba uses her 'Paprika' persona to hunt them down, exploring different dreamscapes in her search for answers, but the line between dreams and reality is a hard one to distinguish... ...And it was all a dream. That would be the easy cop out, but Paprika is far smarter than that, which is why it deserves a spot in our top 3. Go watch it now, but don't blame me if you start questioning reality afterwards.
