10 Movies That Made You Question Life Itself

10. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Warner Bros.Warner Bros. What's It All About? In the (then) near future, a huge, possibly alien constructed monolith is discovered on the moon, which causes an AI computer to kill the crew of a spaceship, before the last survivor (Keir Dullea) disappears into a wormhole, only to watch himself growing old and dying, from outside his own body, before he is transformed into a gigantic foetus floating in space. What's The Question Then? Are we alone in the universe? Does It Answer It? Yes, if you accept fiction as an answer. The monolith is an €œalarm clock€ set on the moon by an alien race, who have been keeping an eye on our species for millennia, until we have evolved enough to achieve space travel. The discovery of the monolith is proof, to this other race, that we are now ready to go out into the universe, so it is time for them to help us in the next phase of our evolution: a rebirth, as pan-galactic beings€ simple really.
