10 Movies That Missed Out The Money Shot

1. The Flag - First Man

After breaking the entire world's hearts with the devastating end of La La Land, Damien Chazelle took the next natural step in his Price Of Dreams trilogy (unofficially titled literally just this second) and managed to upset a smaller but far more vocal group of people.

Chazelle's big crime happened when he decided not to leave out the American flag planting scene from Neil Armstrong's first walk on the moon. The flag does appear, but the planting is omitted as a conscious decision, as Chazelle has explained:

"I show the American flag standing on the lunar surface, but the flag being physically planted into the surface is one of several moments [...] that I chose not to focus upon. To address the question of whether this was a political statement, the answer is no. My goal with this movie was to share with audiences the unseen, unknown aspects of America's mission to the Moon."

Naturally, despite Armstrong's family refuting claims of anti-Americanism, LOTS of people took umbrage at the supposedly liberal political statement and threatened to boycott it. Then Nike did THEIR thing and everyone moved on. But it still doesn't change the fact that one of the most iconic moments in history was wilfully omitted.
